Put Saturday 19th February in your diary – because it is going to be a night of live music not to be missed.

Hideaway House and Exchange Dublin founder Dylan Haskins is running as an Independent candidate in the Dublin South East constituency in the upcoming general election. His impressive campaign has drawn huge attention since the launch of his official website and the ‘It Starts Here’ video manifesto. Now, some of Ireland’s leading musical acts are joining forces to help raise valuable funds and keep the momentum going…

WHEN: Saturday 19th February

WHERE: The Button Factory, Temple Bar

HOW: Secure a ticket in advance  by making a €10 donation HERE

WHY: All proceeds will go towards funding Dylan’s entirely volunteer-run campaign

WHO: I hope you’re sitting down for this…!

First up, it’s Dublin trio THE MINUTES, who are attracting quite a bit of attention as one of THE bands to watch for 2011. The Minutes will release their eagerly anticipated debut album later this year (hurry up and get here, month of May!) Check out the impossibly catchy ‘Fleetwood’:

Next on the bill, JAPE – electronic rockin’ featuring the outrageously talented Richie Egan. Choice Music Prize winning album Ritual continues to be one of the best value-for-money albums of recent years – listen after listen, it never loses it’s charm. I dare you not to dance yourself silly to this:

The raw power of HEATHERS’ infectious melodies and impeccable harmonies make them a consistently brilliant live act. Fresh from wowing the masses at Eurosonic, Ellie & Louise are armed with an impressive array of new songs – don’t miss this oppurtunity to check  them out! Here’s a taste of what to expect:

Headliners FIGHT LIKE APES are, quite simply, the best live band in the country. One of THE releases of 2010, The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner well and truly shattered the notion of the ‘difficult second album’ – and if you haven’t had the chance to check out the new tunes live yet, then you really shouldn’t deprive yourself any longer. Here’s soon-to-be-released single ‘Jenny Kelly’ (performed live on The View last week)…

…and the fantastic ‘Waking Up With Robocop’ (which I really hope they play on the night. Hint, nudge, wink…):

And as if ALL of that wasn’t enough, another of Ireland’s most renowned acts will be taking to the decks on the night… This is the DJ set of a band called ADEBISI SHANK!

To summarise – it’s gonna ROCK. Make sure you’re part of it – again, tickets are available only in advance by making a €10 donation HERE – don’t be disappointed, do it now!

(Please note that in the interest of transparency all those who donate through attending this gig will be listed on Dylan’s website following the election)
