UnderCover: The Late Fragments / Kate Bush

Posted: 17/11/2010 in Uncategorized

At Jay Brannan’s recent gig in Crawdaddy, I was completely blown away when the support act – The Late Fragments – unleashed an amazing cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Wuthering Heights’. You know the kind of cover version that you don’t recognise at first, but then completely astounds you? Well, this is one of them. I searched for it online afterwards to no avail – but thankfully it has recently surfaced on YouTube:

Inspired by the above, I narrowed down my extensive list of adored covers to just three absolute favourites. Enjoy!

My love of acoustic covers combined with my love of The Boss… Tegan & Sara are ‘Dancing in the Dark’:

Standout track of one of the first albums I ever truly loved… Holly Miranda does Lauryn Hill’s ‘Ex Factor’:

And the pièce de résistance – José González’ masterful take of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Hand On Your Heart’:

UnderCover will be a regular feature… Stay tuned!

(P.S: I’m always on the lookout for awesome versions to discover – any suggestions very welcome!)

As good as that first version is, it’s a total cover of Albert Niland’s version from about four years back. A cover of a cover! Mad! Here’s the link:

That Tegan & Sara one is a great find! Off to youtubetomp3 with me…!
